Favourites

Whenever I feel I have to buy something I spend far too long comparing different options and making a decision based on some arbitrarily-weighted combination of history, locality, mythology, durability, production ethics, price and aesthetics. It’s embarrassing to write, but I find websites like The Wirecutter and Cool Tools useful for helping make these decisions, so I thought I’d make my own conclusions public. It’s not intended as bait for some consumerist feeding frenzy but rather as an indulgence that maybe a couple of people might find slightly useful.

To summarise what I look for, I suppose the ideal thing would be British, cheap, made without exploitation to last forever, look great and have a cool story attached to it.

If you have suggestions of better stuff, please let me know.
